Shane Wauhob asked:
The James E. Stewart Golf Course is located right in the midst of Oklahoma City. The 9-hole 3,105-yard course was opened in 1999 and designed by Randy Heckenkemper. With a course rating of 35.5 and Bermuda grass slope rating of 113, the course has been considered by many to be the best 9-hole course in Oklahoma City. Mark Galloway serves as the Director of Golf of the course located on Fredrick Douglas Ave off of N.E. 10th Street.
Amenities at the course include a pro shop, snack bar and cart rental. A driving range and putting green are offered as part of practice facilities. The course has teamed up with The First Tee of Oklahoma City in order to increase the popularity of the game and to introduce new players to the game.
Players frequenting the 9-hole James E. Stewart Golf Course in OKC regard it as the perfect warm-up course for an 18-hole game at the other Oklahoma City courses. Though the course is generally considered ideal for beginners, it has a few tough holes for the seasoned players as well. The water that cuts across holes 4, 7 and 8 does pose a challenge. The course can therefore be summed up as affordable yet challenging and a great learners’ course.
Guests of OKC hotels seeking to learn more about golf can get started with the game at the James E. Stewart Golf Course. Shuttle services are offered by hotels to popular destinations in Oklahoma City, including the golf courses.
